What exactly does Sunplanner do?

Sunplanner helps you find the perfect spot for your plants by simulating real-world sunlight. You recreate your room (either by scanning it with your camera or building it manually), and our engine calculates exactly how the sun will move across your floor and walls throughout the day. It doesn't just show where the sun is. It visualizes the total amount of sunlight each spot in your room receives per day, year-round, based on your pinpointed global coordinates. You can explore your space in both a top-down architectural dollhouse view or a grounded first-person view, watching the sunlight shift across the floor in smooth 60fps.

What is included in the Free version?

The free version is fully functional. You get access to standard Layout Presets (like a Nordic Loft or Corner Sunroom) to instantly see how sunlight behaves in typical spaces. Most importantly, you can open and view unlimited .sunplanner files sent to you by friends or architects, allowing you to walk through their 3D heatmaps entirely for free.

What do I get with Studio Pro?

Studio Pro is an optional, one-time purchase that unlocks our advanced creation tools. It gives you the Custom Room Studio to manually build bespoke rooms with exact dimensions, the LiDAR 3D Scanner to instantly scan physical rooms using your camera, and the ability to export and share your own .sunplanner files.

How do the heatmaps work, and how accurate are they?

The heatmap engine uses your device's exact GPS coordinates and True North compass orientation. We run complex astrophysical calculations to determine the precise angle and trajectory of the sun for your specific location at any time of year. While the math is incredibly accurate, please remember that the simulation calculates maximum potential sunlight based on clear skies, and does not account for local weather conditions like clouds or rain. Additionally, real-world obstacles outside your window (like tall trees or neighboring buildings) may block sunlight in ways the app cannot see.

Does the LiDAR scanner work on my device?

The 3D LiDAR Room Scanner requires a device equipped with an Apple LiDAR sensor (iPhone 12 Pro or iPad Pro). If you have a standard iPhone, you can still use the Custom Room Studio in the Pro tier to manually build your room with exact measurements!

Do I have to pay a monthly subscription for Pro?

Absolutely not. We hate subscriptions as much as you do. Sunplanner Studio Pro is a one-time purchase. Once you buy it, it is tied to your Apple/Google account forever.

Where is my data stored?

Everything is processed and stored locally on your device. We do not upload your room scans or camera data to any servers. Your home is your private space.
